Samhah

Samhah, also transliterated as samaḥa or samaha, is an Arabic noun meaning generosity, tolerance, and leniency in conduct. It denotes a gracious, open-handed attitude toward others and is often used to describe interpersonal behavior, hospitality, and conflict resolution.

Etymology and scope: The term comes from the Arabic root s-m-ḥ, associated with permitting, forgiving, and being broad-minded. سماحة (samaḥa) refers to the virtue itself and can describe a person’s character as well as the behavior of institutions or communities that practice fair-mindedness and generosity. In some contexts, سماحة is also used as a feminine given name in Arabic-speaking societies.
