Salchows
Salchows are a figure skating jump with a unique takeoff. The skater approaches the jump from a forward outside edge and then jumps, rotating in the air. The landing is typically on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. The name "Salchow" comes from Ulrich Salchow, a Swedish figure skater who first performed the jump in competition. It is considered one of the six standard figure skating jumps and is often one of the first solo jumps learned by skaters.
