Sagamu

Sagamu is a city in Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria, serving as the administrative center of Sagamu Local Government Area. It is situated along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, roughly midway between Lagos and Ibadan, which makes it an important commercial and transportation node.

The city is part of the Ijebu-speaking area within Ogun State and is home to a predominantly Yoruba population with a mix of other groups. Sagamu's urban center comprises markets, residential neighborhoods, and light industry.

The economy is anchored by commerce and agriculture. Markets trade in crops such as yams and vegetables, spices, kola nuts, and palm products, while small-scale manufacturing and services support local employment. The Lagos–Ibadan corridor presence has encouraged trade and logistics activities.

Education and infrastructure: Sagamu hosts several primary and secondary schools and benefits from Ogun State's wider educational system; residents have access to higher education facilities in the state and nearby cities.

In recent years, Sagamu has experienced urban growth, expansion of housing and commercial districts, and ongoing efforts to improve roads, electricity, and public services. As with many rapidly growing towns on major highways, it faces challenges related to traffic management and urban planning.
