SVHCaineet

SVHCaineet is a term used in Finnish regulatory discourse to refer to substances of very high concern (SVHC) under the European Union's REACH regulation. The word combines SVHC with aineet, the Finnish word for substances. It appears in safety data sheets, guidance documents, and compliance materials to indicate chemicals that have been identified by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) as SVHC based on criteria such as carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, or reproductive toxicity (CMR), and properties like persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity (PBT or vPvB).

Regulatory significance: SVHCaineet trigger REACH obligations. Substances on the SVHC candidate list may be subject to authorization, and suppliers must communicate information about SVHCs throughout the supply chain. When SVHC-containing articles are supplied to downstream users and, in many cases, to consumers, the presence of an SVHC above 0.1% weight by weight (w/w) must be disclosed upon request, and in certain contexts included in product documentation.
