SIGDAT

SIGDAT stands for Special Interest Group on Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, an ACM Special Interest Group. It focuses on data mining and knowledge discovery in databases, as well as related areas such as machine learning, information retrieval, text mining, and data science. The group serves as a forum for researchers, practitioners, and educators to exchange ideas, develop standards, and advance the field.

Founded during the expansion of data mining in the 1990s, SIGDAT operates under the Association for Computing Machinery and maintains an international membership.

The group organizes and co-sponsors events and forums that bring together researchers from academia and industry. The flagship conference associated with the field, the ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, is closely linked with SIGDAT's activities, and SIGDAT also supports workshops, tutorials, and special sessions. It publishes resources such as the SIGDAT Newsletter and provides guidance and information on journals, conferences, and best practices in data mining and knowledge discovery.

Through these activities, SIGDAT aims to foster collaboration, advance research, and promote the application of data mining techniques across disciplines.
