SAHPpyahmo

SAHPpyahmo is a global nonprofit research initiative that examines the interconnections between sustainable agriculture, public health, and climate policy. Established in 2012, it coordinates cross-disciplinary research, data sharing, and policy analysis to inform decision-makers and practitioners.

Originating from a consortium of universities, public health institutes, and agricultural organizations, SAHPpyahmo aims to develop integrated solutions to food security and health outcomes in the face of climate change. It maintains headquarters in Geneva with regional hubs in Nairobi, Lima, and Bengaluru.

The organization is governed by a 12-member board and a Scientific Council that sets research priorities. Member institutions include universities, NGOs, government agencies, and private-sector partners. Activities include an Open Data Portal, policy briefs, peer-reviewed articles, and regional pilot programs testing climate-smart farming and health surveillance tools, plus an annual conference.

SAHPpyahmo has influenced national and regional policy discussions and contributed to data standards for agricultural health indicators. Some critics point to uneven funding cycles and calls for greater transparency and broader stakeholder engagement.
