The specific roasting profile applied within these areas significantly impacts the final taste of the coffee, influencing factors like acidity, body, sweetness, and bitterness.

Different roasting areas are characterized by varying temperatures, durations, and airflow. A "light roast" area, for instance, typically involves shorter roasting times at lower temperatures, preserving more of the bean's original origin characteristics and resulting in a brighter, more acidic cup. In contrast, "medium roast" areas extend the roasting process, balancing origin flavors with roast-derived notes, leading to a more rounded taste. "Dark roast" areas involve longer roasting times at higher temperatures, developing deeper, bolder flavors, often with a more pronounced bitterness and less acidity, and can impart chocolatey or smoky notes.
