Rörselement

Rörselement, or pipe element, is a basic component of a piping system that forms a continuous path for fluids or gases. It encompasses straight pipe sections as well as fittings and accessories that join, shape, or support the pipe network. These elements are used in a wide range of industries, including water supply, heating, chemical processing, and oil and gas, to transport media safely and efficiently.

Common rörselement types include straight pipes, couplings, unions, adapters, elbows, tees, reducers, flanges, and valves. Special elements include branch connections and expansion joints. Some elements are designed to bear mechanical loads or to allow movement due to thermal expansion.

Materials vary by application: metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper; plastics like PVC, CPVC, PE, and PP; composites. Selection depends on pressure, temperature, chemical compatibility, and regulatory requirements.

Standards and connections: Dimensional standards and connection types are governed by national and international standards (ISO, DIN, ANSI/ASME, EN). Elements may feature threaded, welded, soldered, or flanged connections, and pipe sizing uses nominal diameter and schedule or wall thickness.

Design considerations and installation: Corrosion resistance, pressure rating, thermal expansion, fluid compatibility, and availability are important. Installation requires proper alignment, support, and sealing; gaskets and thread sealants are used where necessary.

Applications: Rörselement are installed in networks for water distribution, heating and cooling, petrochemical plants, and cleanrooms, among others. They enable modular assembly and repair of piping systems.
