Rákospalota

Rákospalota is a neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary. It is part of District XV, together with Pestújhely and Újpalota. Located in the northeastern part of the city on the Pest side, the area originated as a rural settlement before developing into a residential suburb as Budapest expanded in the 20th century.

Historically, Rákospalota grew from a village into a district of the capital, undergoing substantial changes during the socialist era, when large-scale housing estates were built to accommodate workers. The district today features a mix of older houses and modern apartment blocks, with green spaces and local amenities integrated into a community-oriented urban fabric.

Facilities include several schools, a public library, churches, and local shops. Parks and playgrounds provide recreational space for residents, contributing to a family-friendly atmosphere in parts of the neighbourhood.

Transport connections are provided by Budapest’s public transit network, with bus services and access to the suburban rail network, linking Rákospalota with central Budapest and other districts. The area's road layout broadly follows the historic street grid, with newer estate avenues interspersed among established streets.
