Rullemenuer, often translated as dropdown menus or select boxes, are a common graphical user interface element in web design and software development. They present a list of options from which a user can select a single item. When the menu is inactive, it typically displays the currently selected option or a prompt to choose one. Clicking on the active menu triggers its expansion, revealing the full list of available choices in a vertically stacked arrangement. Once an option is selected, the menu collapses, and the chosen item replaces the previously displayed text.

The primary purpose of rullemenuer is to save screen space by consolidating multiple choices into a compact, interactive element. They are particularly useful when dealing with a limited number of distinct options, such as selecting a country from a list, choosing a size for a product, or picking a date from a calendar.
