Rullakuljetin

Rullakuljetin, or roller conveyor, is a conveyor system that moves items by rotating cylindrical rollers. It is used to transport boxes, crates, pallets, and similar loads along a fixed path in manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution facilities.

A typical rullakuljetin is built around a rigid frame with a line of rollers supported by end plates or brackets. Rollers are usually steel, aluminum, or polymer and vary in diameter and spacing to suit load, item size, and incline. The frame may be adjustable to accommodate different product dimensions, and end stops or guards help prevent items from rolling off the conveyor.

There are two main types: gravity conveyors, where motion is generated by gravity on an inclined section or by hand pushing, and powered conveyors, where a motor drives one or more rollers through gears, chains, or belts. Gravity versions are common for simple accumulation or manual handling, while powered variants offer controlled speed and continuous movement.

Advantages include simple construction, durability, and low maintenance, making roller conveyors suitable for a wide range of loads. They are effective for bulk items and allow straightforward manual handling. Limitations include limited speed control, challenges with accumulating or sorting items, and reduced suitability for small, slippery, or irregularly shaped products.

In practice, rullakuljetin systems are integrated with sensors, transfer stations, and safety features such as end guards and emergency stops. Maintenance focuses on keeping rollers clear of debris, ensuring proper alignment, and lubricating moving parts to prevent wear and ensure smooth operation.
