Rousey

Rousey is a surname most widely associated with Ronda Rousey (born February 1, 1987), an American former professional mixed martial artist, judoka, and current professional wrestler and actress. Born in Riverside, California, Rousey began training in judo at age 11; she won a bronze medal in judo at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo.

She transitioned to mixed martial arts and rose to prominence in Strikeforce, where she became the inaugural women's bantamweight champion. After Strikeforce was purchased by the UFC, she became the UFC's first women's bantamweight champion in 2013, defending the title multiple times before losing to Holly Holm in 2015. She then lost to Amanda Nunes in 2016 and subsequently left active competition in MMA.

Rousey pursued acting and entertainment; her film credits include The Expendables 3 (2014). In 2018 she signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and began performing as a professional wrestler. She has authored books, including My Fight/Your Fight (2016), and has spoken about empowerment, sport, and mental health. Her career helped advance visibility for women in combat sports and popular culture.
