Rohrbündeltypen, also known as tube bundle types, refer to the various configurations and designs of heat exchanger tube bundles. A tube bundle is the core component of a shell and tube heat exchanger, consisting of a collection of tubes through which one fluid flows, enclosed within a shell through which another fluid flows. The arrangement and type of tubes significantly impact the heat transfer efficiency, pressure drop, and maintenance accessibility of the exchanger.

Common Rohrbündeltypen include fixed tube bundles, U-tube bundles, and floating head tube bundles. Fixed tube bundles have both ends of the tubes securely fastened to tube sheets at each end of the shell. While simple and cost-effective, they are prone to thermal expansion stresses and can be difficult to clean. U-tube bundles feature tubes bent into a U-shape, allowing for thermal expansion and easier removal for maintenance as only one tube sheet is required. Floating head tube bundles incorporate a design where one end of the bundle is attached to a fixed tube sheet, while the other end is connected to a floating head, allowing for differential thermal expansion between the shell and the tubes. This design offers good thermal expansion management and can be disassembled for cleaning.

The selection of a specific Rohrbündeltyp depends on factors such as operating temperature, pressure, fluid properties, required heat transfer duty, and maintenance considerations. Each type presents distinct advantages and disadvantages regarding thermal performance, mechanical stress, cleaning procedures, and overall cost. Understanding these different types is crucial for selecting the most appropriate heat exchanger for a given industrial application.
