Risikolisten

Risikolisten, or risk lists, are compilations used in risk management to identify, document, and monitor potential threats to a project, process, or organization. In German-speaking contexts the term is commonly employed to describe a lightweight representation of risks that can complement or, in some cases, serve as an alternative to a full risk register.

The primary purpose of a Risikoliste is to communicate risk exposure to stakeholders, support prioritization and decision-making, and assign responsibility for mitigation actions. They provide a clear overview of identified risks, their perceived severity, and the steps planned to address them, often with owners and target dates.

A typical Risikoliste includes fields such as Risk ID, title or description, category (for example strategic, operational, technical, legal), likelihood, impact, a risk rating, owner, current status, planned mitigation actions, residual risk, and evidence or notes. The development process usually involves risk identification, assessment, prioritization, assignment of owners, and ongoing monitoring and review.

Applications of Risikolisten span various domains, including project management, safety engineering, information technology, and regulatory compliance. They are often used as a precursor to or component of a more detailed risk register, which may add information on controls, risk responders, and performance indicators.

Advantages of Risikolisten include simplicity, improved visibility for stakeholders, and enhanced accountability. Limitations can include the risk of outdated information, limited coverage of interdependencies, reliance on input quality, and the need for regular updates to remain effective.
