Rimac

Rimac refers to a Croatian technology company known for its electric propulsion technology and high-performance electric cars. It comprises Rimac Automobili, a vehicle manufacturer and engineering firm, and Rimac Group, a broader holding that includes Rimac Technology, which develops powertrain and battery systems for external clients. The company was founded in 2009 by Mate Rimac and is based in Sveta Nedelja near Zagreb.

Rimac Automobili began by building electric drivetrains and an electric hypercar, the Concept One, which brought international attention to the company. It subsequently developed the Concept Two and released the production model Nevera, a high-performance electric hypercar that demonstrates Rimac’s capabilities in powertrain engineering, battery technology, and software. Beyond its own cars, Rimac Technologies supplies electric powertrain components and battery systems to other automakers and collaborates with multiple brands on performance electrification.

In 2021 Rimac formed Bugatti Rimac, a joint venture that combines Bugatti’s luxury-hypercar heritage with Rimac’s electric-drive technology and manufacturing capabilities. The arrangement involves collaboration with and investment from established partners, including Porsche, and aims to accelerate development of electrified ultra-luxury vehicles.

Rimac is regarded as a leading force in European electric-vehicle technology, contributing to Croatia’s growing automotive and engineering sector. The company maintains research and development centers in Croatia with international engineering affiliations, and its products and services position Rimac as a key supplier and collaborator in the global EV industry.
