Bugatti

Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., commonly known simply as Bugatti, is a French luxury automobile manufacturer renowned for high-performance supercars. The company was founded in 1909 by Ettore Bugatti in Molsheim, Alsace, then part of the German Empire. Early Bugatti cars earned fame for advanced engineering, distinctive styling, and success in racing, including models such as the Type 13 and Type 35.

Over the decades Bugatti built a reputation for technical innovation and craftsmanship, but the brand faced financial difficulties and changing ownership after World War II. In 1987 Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli revived Bugatti as Bugatti Automobili SpA in Campogalliano, Italy, producing the EB110. The venture struggled financially, and in 1998 the Volkswagen Group acquired the Bugatti brand, reviving production at the historic Molsheim site.

In the modern era Bugatti is known for extreme performance and luxury. The Veyron 16.4, launched in the mid-2000s, featured an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine and delivered around 1,000 horsepower, helping redefine what a production car could achieve in terms of speed and technology. Its successor, the Chiron, introduced in 2016, offered greater power and refinement. The brand has also explored track-focused concepts such as the Bolide.

Today Bugatti remains a symbol of exclusivity and engineering excellence within the Volkswagen Group, producing a limited number of high-end cars and continuing a long-standing heritage in automotive design and performance.
