Rightwardpointing

Rightwardpointing is a descriptor used to denote something oriented or directed toward the right. In standard English, the more common forms are rightward-pointing and right-pointing; rightwardpointing is encountered primarily in technical contexts where spaces or hyphens are not permitted, such as in filenames, identifiers, or code variables.

In typography and graphic design, rightwardpointing elements describe glyphs, arrows, or pointers that visually indicate a direction to the right. This includes icons for navigation, forward actions, or progress indicators. In user interface design, rightward-pointing cues commonly signal moving forward, proceeding to the next step, or sending information to the right.

In mathematics, compass directions, vector diagrams, or flow charts may employ rightwardpointing arrows to represent direction of movement, transformation, or function application. In computer science and information design, the concept helps distinguish rightward orientation from leftward or bidirectional arrangements in diagrams, data flows, and sequence diagrams.

Unicode and typographic encoding do not define a single symbol called “rightwardpointing.” Instead, developers reference specific rightward-oriented glyphs such as rightwards arrows, chevrons, or arrows that point to the right. The descriptive term is thus often used in documentation, design guidelines, or description fields rather than as a formal character name.
