Rezervler

Rezervler is a term used in energy, mining, and related fields to denote quantities of a resource that can be recovered economically and legally under current technology, prices, and regulations. In practice, reserves represent the portion of a resource base that is considered extractable under prevailing conditions and standards.

Reserves are commonly categorized by confidence and development status. The main classes are proved, probable, and possible reserves. Proved reserves have the highest level of confidence that the resource will be recovered as planned, with subdivisions into developed (already producing or ready to produce) and undeveloped (not yet developed). Probable and possible reserves represent progressively lower certainty. In the oil and gas industry, reporting follows internationally recognized frameworks such as PRMS or, in some jurisdictions, SEC guidelines, which define how reserves are estimated and disclosed.

Reserves differ from resources. Resources include contingent and prospective resources—quantities that may become reserves if economic conditions, technologies, or regulatory environments improve. Estimates are inherently uncertain and subject to change with new discoveries, improved extraction methods, price fluctuations, and policy shifts.

Estimating reserves involves geology, engineering, and economics. Methods assess recoverability, field performance, capital and operating costs, and projected prices. Common metrics include the reserve-to-production ratio (R/P), which indicates how long current reserves could sustain production, and the rate of reserve replacement. Effective management of reserves influences energy security, corporate planning, and policy decisions, reflecting the dynamic balance between geological potential and economic feasibility.
