Reyran is a city and port located on the Rey River in the northern part of the fictional continent of Eldoria. It serves as the regional administrative center of Valen Province and functions as a trade and transportation hub for inland and coastal networks.

Name and etymology: The name Reyran appears in medieval chronicles as Reyren; the original etymology is uncertain, but most scholars trace it to Old Valaran roots meaning river crossing or ford.

History: Evidence of settlement in Reyran dates to the 9th century, when traders established a ford and wooden warehouses. The town expanded as a trading post linking inland markets with coastal shipping, and it was fortified in the 13th and 14th centuries. It endured sieges during regional conflicts, notably in 1423. A great fire in the 17th century led to widespread rebuilding, and the 19th century brought railway access and industrial development.

Geography and climate: The city sits at a broad bend of the Rey River, with hills to the south and a shallow harbor on the river's edge. Reyran experiences a temperate maritime climate, with mild winters, warm summers, and about 700–900 mm of annual precipitation.

Economy and infrastructure: Reyran's economy centers on textiles, ship repair, and logistics. The river port handles bulk goods and timber, while a regional railway line and an airport north of the city connect it to larger centers. The city hosts educational institutions focusing on engineering and commerce.

Culture and demographics: With a population around 42,000 (2023), Reyran is ethnically mixed and multilingual, with Eldorian as the official language and Valaran dialects spoken locally. Notable landmarks include the Reyran Cathedral, the Old Market, and the Riverfront Promenade. Annual events include the Harvest Moon Festival and River Day.
