Reproduktioissakin is a term used in the Finnish-speaking scientific community to refer to the subset of reproductive processes that occur in secondary somatic tissues of certain plant species. It is derived from the Swedish word reproductive, combined with the Finnish suffix -ssakin meaning "even in". The concept arose in early 21st‑century research examining how some perennials can regenerate reproductive organs from vegetative tissues, a phenomenon that blurs the line between sexual and asexual reproduction.

Studies have documented reproduktionatively active cells in the cambium of poplar trees and in the meristems of bamboo. These cells can generate flowers under specific hormonal cues, allowing the plants to produce seeds without the need for a full life cycle. The discovery has implications for agriculture, particularly in the cultivation of fruit trees that can be propagated more efficiently through somatic embryogenesis.

The prevalence of reproduktionively active tissues varies widely among species. In some orchid species, minor buds along the leaf petiole have been observed to develop into complete flowers under induced conditions. In contrast, most woody perennials exhibit little to no such activity, making reproduktionively targeted breeding a niche technique.

Controversy mainly concerns the classification of these processes. Some botanists argue that since the resulting flowers do not arise from the primary germline, they should not be considered truly reproductive. Others maintain that the functional outcome—seed production—justifies the term’s use.
