Regelern

Regelern is a municipality in the northern part of Nordmark, a region in Valoria. It lies along the Regel river and serves as a local economic and cultural hub for surrounding communities.

The municipality covers 28 square kilometers and features low hills, mixed forests, and several small farms. The terrain and river crossing historically shaped its development as a market town.

Regelern developed in the 12th century as a trading settlement. It gained town rights in 1432 and grew through crafts, trade, and regional administration. The old town center preserves timber-framed houses and a 16th-century town hall.

As of 2023, Regelern had about 7,200 residents. The population is predominantly native speakers of the national language, with regional dialects and small immigrant communities contributing to the town’s diversity.

Local employment centers on light manufacturing, logistics, and services. Small crafts, woodworking, and metal component workshops operate alongside a regional logistics hub serving Nordmark.

Regelern is governed by a mayor and a 14-member town council elected for four-year terms. The council directs municipal services, planning, education, and cultural programs.

The town hosts a weekly market, an annual summer festival, and the Regelern Regional Museum. Notable sites include the timber-framed houses of the old town and the riverside promenade.

Regelern is connected by regional roads and a railway station on the Nordmark Line. Bus services link to nearby towns, and the nearest international airport is about 60 kilometers away. The town operates two primary schools and a secondary school, plus a library.
