Rechnungsworkflow refers to the structured process involved in the handling, processing, and approval of invoices within an organization's financial and accounting systems. This workflow is essential for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payment of invoices, as well as maintaining proper documentation for auditing purposes.

Typically, a Rechnungsworkflow begins with the receipt of an invoice, which can come via various channels such as email, postal mail, or electronic data interchange (EDI). The invoice is then captured and registered into the accounting system, often utilizing automated optical character recognition (OCR) or other data extraction technologies to streamline data entry.

Subsequently, the identified invoice undergoes a validation phase, where it is checked for correctness, such as verifying supplier details, invoice amounts, purchase order (PO) matching, and compliance with contractual terms. If discrepancies or issues arise, the invoice may be routed back for clarification or correction.

Once validation is completed, the invoice proceeds to approval, which usually involves designated managers or department heads. This approval process can be automated or manual, depending on organizational policies and the complexity of the invoice. After approval, the invoice is marked for payment, and the corresponding financial records are updated.

The final stage involves executing the payment according to the agreed payment terms. Post-payment processes include archiving the invoice and related documentation for future reference and audit purposes.
