Rannikkostrategiat

Rannikkostrategiat is a Finnish term for strategies that address operations in coastal and littoral environments. It encompasses the planning, coordination, and execution of military and security activities designed to secure coastal areas, ports, and sea lines of communication, while enabling power projection and deter aggression.

Key elements include integration of naval, air, and land forces; defense of critical infrastructure (ports, harbors, energy facilities); control of sea lanes; coastal surveillance and reconnaissance; anti-access/area-denial considerations; amphibious assault and rapid reaction capabilities; mine countermeasures and coastal mine warfare; and crisis response, including disaster relief and humanitarian assistance in coastal zones.

The littoral context emphasizes the densely interactive border between sea and land, where littoral dynamics, weather, and shallow depths constrain operations and favor agile, joint, networked forces.
