Rangstufe
Rangstufe, literally “rank level,” is a term used in German-language contexts to describe a specific step or tier within a hierarchical ranking system. It combines Rang (rank) and Stufe (level, stage) and denotes the degree of seniority, authority, or qualification assigned within a given structure. Rangstufen typically define the scope of duties, permissions, or compensation corresponding to that step, and progression to a higher Rangstufe usually requires time in service, training, merit assessments, or examinations.
Rangstufen appear in several domains. In military and police organizations, Dienstgrade are sometimes subdivided into Rangstufen
Although related to the broader concepts of rank and level, Rangstufe specifically emphasizes a staged progression
