Rangaistusheittoja, often translated as penalty throws or free throws, are a fundamental aspect of several sports, most notably basketball and handball. In basketball, a rangaistusheitto is awarded to a player who has been fouled in the act of shooting or when the opposing team exceeds its foul limit.
