Rakuvedelik

Rakuvedelik is a term that can refer to several different concepts, primarily originating from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In its most common usage, it denotes a type of ceramics known as raku firing. Raku is a low-fired earthenware technique that originated in Japan in the 16th century. The process involves removing pottery from the kiln at a high temperature and then placing it into combustible materials such as sawdust or paper. The resulting smoke and carbon penetrate the porous glaze, creating unique and often unpredictable crackled patterns and metallic lusters. The term "rakuvedelik" in this context translates roughly to "raku-making" or "the art of raku."
