Rahastodirektiiveillä

Rahastodirektiiveillä refers to a set of European Union directives that regulate investment funds, commonly known as Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS). These directives aim to harmonize the rules for investment funds across EU member states, ensuring a high level of investor protection and facilitating the cross-border marketing and management of funds.

The original UCITS directive, first adopted in 1985, has been amended and updated multiple times to adapt to evolving market conditions and investor needs. The most significant updates include UCITS III and UCITS IV, which broadened the scope of eligible investments, introduced new fund structures like the European Social Fund (ESF), and enhanced transparency and information requirements. More recently, UCITS V focused on areas such as depositary responsibilities, remuneration policies, and investor compensation.

The primary objectives of rahastodirektiiveillä are to provide investors with clear, standardized information about the fund's risks and performance, to ensure that funds are managed by authorized and supervised entities, and to establish rules regarding fund diversification, liquidity, and valuation. By creating a single market for investment funds within the EU, these directives enable fund managers to operate and distribute their products across borders more easily, leading to greater competition and potentially lower costs for investors. Compliance with these directives is mandatory for funds marketed within the EU.
