Radiostreaming refers to the delivery of audio content over IP networks in a streaming format, allowing listeners to access live radio broadcasts and on-demand radio-like programs over the internet. It encompasses traditional online radio, webcasts from studios, and archived programs, providing global reach beyond the limits of conventional over-the-air transmission while preserving near real-time playback.

Technical foundations typically involve streaming servers such as Icecast or SHOUTcast, and encoder software that transcodes audio into common formats like MP3, AAC, or Ogg Vorbis. Transmission may use HTTP-based streaming protocols, including HLS or DASH, or traditional streaming protocols such as RTMP or RTP. Streams usually embed metadata with track titles and artist information, which client players display to listeners. Commonly, streams run at varying bitrates from 32 kbps to 320 kbps to balance quality and bandwidth.
