Racerunners

Racerunners are a breed of dog developed in the United States. They are a crossbreed, most commonly a mix of a Greyhound and a Jack Russell Terrier, though other terrier breeds may be involved. The intentional creation of racerunners aimed to combine the speed and elegance of the Greyhound with the tenacity and agility of the terrier.

Physically, racerunners typically possess a lean, athletic build. They often inherit the Greyhound's long legs and deep chest, contributing to their speed and stamina. Their heads are usually moderately sized, with erect or semi-erect ears. The coat can vary, but it is often short and dense, requiring minimal grooming. Colors can range widely due to the diverse genetics of their parent breeds.

Temperamentally, racerunners are described as energetic, intelligent, and playful dogs. They tend to be loyal to their families and can be good companions for active individuals or families. Due to their high energy levels and prey drive, they require significant physical and mental stimulation. Early socialization is recommended to ensure they are well-adjusted. Their intelligence makes them trainable, but their terrier stubbornness can sometimes present a challenge. They may not be the best fit for sedentary households or novice dog owners who cannot meet their exercise needs.
