RFIDszemzôrök, or RFID sensors, are devices that combine radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology with sensing capabilities. This integration allows for the collection of both identification data and environmental or physical measurements. Unlike standard RFID tags that primarily store an identifier, RFID sensors can also detect and transmit information about their surroundings.

The core components of an RFID sensor include an RFID transponder, a power source (which can be passive or active), and a sensor element. The sensor element can be designed to measure various parameters such as temperature, humidity, pressure, light levels, or the presence of specific chemicals. When the RFID sensor is interrogated by an RFID reader, it not only transmits its unique identification code but also the data collected by its integrated sensor.

This dual functionality opens up a wide range of applications. For instance, in logistics and supply chain management, RFID sensors can track not only the location of goods but also their condition during transit, such as temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals or perishable food items. In industrial environments, they can monitor equipment health, detect leaks, or verify the presence of specific materials. Healthcare applications might involve tracking medical devices and simultaneously monitoring environmental conditions in sensitive areas. The ability to gather both identity and environmental data in a single, often wireless, tag makes RFID sensors a versatile tool for enhanced monitoring and automation.
