RCBOde

RCBOde is a term found in some electrical engineering literature and product documentation to denote an integrated protective device that combines residual-current protection with overcurrent protection, analogous to an RCBO. The exact meaning of the term varies by source, and it is not universally standardized; in many cases RCBOde may refer to a specific manufacturer's model name or a regional shorthand for a digitally enhanced RCBO variant.

Functionally, RCBOde devices monitor the current balance between live and neutral conductors and the total circuit current. If earth leakage above a defined threshold occurs (commonly around 30 mA) or if an overcurrent condition arises, the device trips to disconnect the circuit. Some variants may include selective tripping, arc-fault detection, or data logging features.

Construction-wise, RCBOde units are typically similar to standard RCBOs: a compact, DIN-rail-mounted enclosure housing both residual-current sensing and thermal-magnetic overcurrent protection. They are available in multi-pole configurations to protect single-phase and three-phase circuits. Current ratings span a range from low amperage to tens of amperes, with breaking capacities chosen to suit the installation.

Standards and installation considerations: RCBOde devices generally comply with residual-current and circuit-breaker standards, such as IEC 61009 and IEC 60898/60947-series, and may carry regulatory marks like CE.
