QuickReleasePlatten are mounting plates used in photography and videography to enable rapid attachment and detachment of cameras and other equipment from supports such as tripods, heads, sliders, and gimbals. The term refers to the plates themselves in a family of quick-release systems and is commonly used to describe plates compatible with various clamps and heads.

Most QuickReleasePlatten are rectangular and made from aluminum or composite materials. They typically feature a 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch threaded hole to attach to the camera’s tripod socket, and many models include anti-twist features such as a small edge, pin, or recessed area. A rubberized surface on the plate helps minimize movement and protect the camera bottom from scratches.

Compatibility is a key consideration. Arca-Swiss is the dominant standard for quick-release systems, with many clamps and heads designed to accept Arca-type plates. Other systems, such as Manfrotto RC2 or 200PL, use different shapes and interfaces. Some QuickReleasePlatten offer multiple threaded holes to accommodate different mounting configurations or to attach accessories directly to the plate.

Usage involves attaching the plate to the camera, then sliding or locking the plate into a compatible clamp or head. This allows fast swapping between setups, such as switching from a handheld rig to a tripod mount. Safety considerations include ensuring the screw is securely tightened, using any built-in locking mechanisms, and observing the weight limits of the head and plate.

Variants include low-profile designs for compact setups, longer plates for better balance, and plates with multiple mounting holes. Some plates are integrated into gimbals, stabilizers, or camera cages, expanding their range of quick-release applications.
