Origin and scope: The term blends quasi- with identifiability and mirrors concerns in data releases where common attributes such as age, location, or occupation may, in combination with outside data, reveal identities. It is distinct from but related to established notions such as k-anonymity and differential privacy, serving as a risk metric rather than a data sanitization mechanism.

Measurement approach: Practically, quasiidentifioivia is estimated by simulating an adversary who uses available quasi-identifiers plus auxiliary data to attempt re-identification. For each record, the probability that the attacker correctly identifies the individual is computed; if this probability exceeds a defined threshold, the record is labeled quasi-identifiable. Aggregating these assessments yields a quasiidentifioivia score for a data release.

Applications: It informs risk assessment, governance, and policy decisions for sharing or publishing datasets. Analysts may use the metric to decide where to generalize, suppress, or perturb attributes to reduce identifiability below the threshold, or to justify access controls.
