QoSia

QoSia is a framework and set of tools for specifying, measuring, and enforcing quality of service in digital networks, cloud services, and applications. It aims to provide a unified approach to QoS policy, telemetry, and optimization across heterogeneous environments.

The term QoSia emerged in academic and industry discussions in the early 2020s as part of broader QoS and service assurance movement. It describes a collection of concepts rather than a single widely recognized standard.

Core components include a policy language for QoS requirements, a data model for telemetry, and an orchestration layer that translates policies into actions across routers, switches, NFV/SDN controllers, and cloud services. It emphasizes interoperability through standard interfaces, and supports ML-based anomaly detection and automatic scaling of resources.

Some vendors and open-source projects have proposed QoSia-compatible modules, mainly for enterprise and telecom networks, but there is no universal implementation. Use cases include service-level guarantees, bandwidth management, latency control, and congestion avoidance.

Critics note complexity and potential for vendor lock-in; supporters argue it can improve cross-domain QoS visibility.
