Púlsóximetríu

Púlsóximetríu is a non-invasive medical method used to measure and display the oxygen saturation level of a person's blood and their pulse rate. It works by emitting light through a translucent part of the body, such as a fingertip or earlobe. A photodetector on the opposite side measures the amount of light that passes through. The device analyzes the differential absorption of light by oxygenated hemoglobin and deoxygenated hemoglobin to determine the percentage of blood that is saturated with oxygen. This percentage is known as SpO2. A normal SpO2 reading is typically between 95% and 100%.

The pulse rate is also measured by detecting the pulsatile changes in blood volume in the tissues as the heart beats. Púlsóximetríu devices are commonly used in hospitals, clinics, and even at home for monitoring patients with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions, during anesthesia, or in critical care settings. They are valuable tools for quickly assessing a patient's respiratory status and identifying potential hypoxia, which is a condition where the body or a region of the body is deprived of adequate oxygen supply. The readings provided by a púlsóximetríu are generally reliable, although factors like poor circulation, nail polish, or movement can sometimes affect accuracy.
