Përkthues

Përkthues is the Albanian term for a translator, a person who renders written or spoken content from one language into another. The word can also refer to translation software or services that perform automated translation. The feminine form is përkthyese; more rarely, in some contexts, translational agents may be referred to as përkthues or përkthyese depending on gender.

Human translators work across fields such as literature, journalism, legal, medical, technical, and localization. Tasks include accurately conveying meaning, nuance, register, and cultural references; addressing terminology; and editing or proofreading translations.

Machine translation (përkthim automatik) uses computer algorithms, including neural networks, to generate translations. While rapid and scalable, it may struggle with idioms, cultural subtleties, or specialized terminology, often requiring post-editing by human translators.

Etymology: The word derives from the verb përkthej "to translate" and the agent-noun suffix -ues, forming a term for "one who translates."
