Pääurakoitsijan

Pääurakoitsijan is the genitive form of the Finnish word pääurakoitsija, which translates as "main contractor" in English. It denotes the role, duties and legal position associated with the principal contractor responsible for carrying out or supervising a construction project.

In practice the main contractor coordinates work on site, manages schedules, hires and oversees subcontractors, procures materials and equipment, and ensures that the project meets agreed specifications. Pääurakoitsija is typically the contracting party to the client or developer and acts as the single point of responsibility for delivering the finished work.

Legal and regulatory responsibilities commonly associated with pääurakoitsijan include compliance with building regulations, occupational safety and health legislation, environmental requirements and local permits.
