Päällystävät

Päällystävät is a Finnish term that translates to "coatings" or "coverings" in English. It refers to a broad category of materials applied to the surface of another object to provide protection, aesthetic enhancement, or functional properties. These coatings can be made from a wide variety of substances, including paints, varnishes, plastics, metals, and ceramics.

The primary purpose of päällystävät is often to protect the underlying material from environmental factors such as moisture, corrosion, abrasion, and UV radiation. For example, metal surfaces are frequently coated to prevent rust, while wooden furniture might be varnished to shield it from scratches and water damage.
