Päivänvalosäätö, also known as daylight harvesting or daylight-linked control, is a lighting control strategy that aims to reduce artificial lighting energy consumption by dimming or switching off lights when sufficient natural daylight is available. This is achieved through the use of photosensors, which measure the ambient light levels in a space.

When the photosensor detects that the natural light is bright enough to meet the desired illuminance level, it sends a signal to the lighting control system. This system then automatically adjusts the output of the artificial luminaires, typically by dimming them down. If the natural light is very strong, the lights may be switched off entirely. Conversely, as daylight levels decrease, the artificial lights are gradually increased to maintain the target light level.
