Puusades is a fictional city-state created for worldbuilding, fantasy literature, and role-playing campaigns. It is situated on the southern coast of the continent of Aeloria, commanding a sheltered harbor along Puusad Gulf. The state has a long mercantile heritage, mixed architectural styles, and a tradition of guild governance.

Puusades sits on a crescent bay backed by low hills and flanked by quays and warehouses. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers, fostering year-round trade. The hinterland yields timber, olives, and grapes, sustaining a regional economy that supports the port.

Puusades’ origins lie in a shore-based trading post from the early medieval era. It grew through inland and overseas commerce, adopting a guild-based council to govern local affairs. The city endured sieges and earthquakes, rebuilding its harbor in phases from the 16th century onward and preserving formal independence through maritime diplomacy.

Today Puusades remains a port-centric economy with shipyards, ship repair, and a diversified manufacturing sector producing textiles, glassware, and ceramics. Its population is around 120,000, presenting a mix of coastal families, inland merchants, and migrant artisans. The official language is Puusan, with the Common Tongue used in trade; Latin-era legal terms appear in records.

Puusades is governed by a rector and an advisory council representing major guilds. The council elects the rector for fixed terms; law courts operate with judges appointed from senior guilds. Public works and budget decisions require guild approval.
