Puthia
Puthia is a town and the administrative center of Puthia Upazila in Rajshahi District, within the Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. It is best known for the Puthia Temple Complex, a group of historic Hindu temples dating from the 16th to 19th centuries. The complex sits on the outskirts of the town and comprises several brick temples adorned with extensive terra cotta ornamentation. The temples exemplify Bengal temple architecture, characterized by brick construction, decorative cornices, and multi-tiered shikharas set on raised plinths. They were built by local zamindars and rulers who governed the region during the medieval and early modern periods, and most are dedicated to Vishnu, Krishna, Shiva and other Hindu deities.
