Pumpfunktionen (pump functions) is a German term that can refer to several related but distinct concepts, depending on the field. It is not a single standardized concept, but a label used in different disciplines to describe the ability of a system to move fluid, ions, or blood, often with quantitative measures attached.

In medical and physiological contexts, the term commonly denotes the pumping function of the heart—the heart’s ability to circulate blood through the body. Clinically relevant measures include cardiac output (volume per minute), stroke volume (volume per beat), and ejection fraction (percentage of blood ejected per beat).
