There is no widely accepted scientific definition, and the term is mainly encountered in imaginative or thought-experiment contexts rather than formal taxonomy.

In terms of morphology and mechanics, pulposuse is imagined as centered on a deformable, gel-like central mass surrounded by muscular tissue. Surrounding this core are numerous tentacle-like appendages that can extend, retract, and maneuver with high precision. Movement is typically described as a combination of hydrostatic pressure manipulation and limb undulation, with jet propulsion sometimes proposed as an auxiliary mode. Sensory systems would likely be distributed across the limbs and surface, enabling sophisticated environmental awareness despite a soft body.

Ecology and behavior in speculative accounts place pulposuse organisms in habitats where flexibility is advantageous, such as complex rock crevices in deep-sea settings or subterranean environments. Their camouflage would resemble real cephalopods, using dynamic skin coloration and texture to blend with surroundings. Feeding strategies are varied in fiction, often portraying opportunistic predation or filter-feeding tendencies depending on the imagined ecosystem.

While pulposuse serves as a useful concept in worldbuilding and biomechanical thought experiments, it is not recognized as a real taxon. It is primarily a theoretical construct used to explore the consequences of alternative body plans in soft-bodied, highly flexible organisms.
