Psychohistorical is an adjective relating to psychohistory, a term popularized by Isaac Asimov in his science fiction works. In the Foundation series, psychohistory is a fictional mathematical sociology that combines psychology, sociology, statistics, and history to model and predict the behavior of large populations. The idea is that while individual actions are inherently unpredictable, the collective dynamics of a sufficiently large group follow probabilistic laws that can be quantified when key variables are known and the system is stable enough.
