Protoceratopsids
Protoceratopsids are an extinct group of early ceratopsian dinosaurs that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous. They are among the earliest known ceratopsians and are typically placed in the family Protoceratopsidae within Ceratopsia. The best-known member is Protoceratops andrewsi from the Djadochta Formation of the Mongolian Gobi Desert, which has helped define the group’s anatomy and ecology.
