Prosessiyksikön

Prosessiyksikön, often translated as "processing unit" or "processor" in English, refers to a fundamental component within a computer system responsible for executing instructions and performing calculations. It is the "brain" of the computer, carrying out the core operations that enable software to function. The most common type of prosessiyksikkö is the Central Processing Unit (CPU), but the term can also encompass other specialized processing units like Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) or Digital Signal Processors (DSPs).

The prosessiyksikkö fetches instructions from memory, decodes them to understand what needs to be done, and then executes those instructions.
