Prosessimallia

Prosessimallia is a term used in Finnish-language discussions of process design and management to denote the concept of a process model or the practice of modeling processes. The word combines prosessi (process) and malli (model). In English-language literature the corresponding concept is usually referred to as a process model or process modeling framework. The term is not standardized across all disciplines, and its usage varies between organizations and academic contexts.

Definition and scope: A prosessimallia typically refers to a structured representation of a business process, its activities, actors, data, and inputs and outputs, often expressed using notation such as BPMN, flowcharts, activity diagrams, or Petri nets. It may describe the as-is process, the to-be design, or a dynamic model that supports simulation.

Applications: used in business process management, process improvement, compliance, automation design, and training. Benefits: improves understanding, communication, and alignment; supports analysis and automation. Limitations: models can become outdated, may oversimplify, and require governance.
