Prohlásenie

Prohlásenie is a formal statement in Slovak and Czech that expresses facts, beliefs, intentions, or positions. It can be delivered orally or in writing, and it often carries a formal or legal weight. In English, the term is commonly translated as declaration or statement.

In legal contexts, a prohlásenie may refer to a sworn statement or affidavit used as evidence or to establish the truth of asserted facts. Some prohlásenia are required by law or regulation, and giving false information can carry penalties. A čestné vyhlásenie (Slovak) or čestné prohlášení (Czech) is an honest declaration that does not necessarily involve an oath, but affirms the accuracy of the information provided.

In public and administrative life, governments, corporations, and other organizations issue prohlásenia to declare policies, commitments, or positions. Historical and contemporary examples include declarations of independence, declarations of policy, or statements of corporate responsibility.
