Procesais is commonly encountered in discussions of Portuguese grammar as the second-person plural present indicative form of the verb processar, meaning “you all process.” In standard European Portuguese, the correct spelling of this form is processais; procesais (without the extra s) is generally treated as a misspelling.

Conjugation and usage: The present indicative conjugation of processar is eu processo, tu processas, ele processa, nós processamos, vós processais, eles processam. The vos form processais corresponds to the traditional second-person plural pronoun vós and is still seen in formal writing or older texts in Portugal, though in everyday Brazilian Portuguese speakers typically use vocês processam instead of the vós form.

Origin and meaning: Processar derives from Latin processare, related to processus, meaning a going forward or progression. In both administrative and computing contexts, processar retains sense of handling a sequence of steps or actions to achieve a result.

Regional notes: In contemporary usage, the vós forms, including processais, are less common in informal speech and are more likely to appear in regional varieties, literary prose, or historical documents. Learners should be aware that audibly similar forms exist in other Romance languages—such as the Spanish procesáis—yet they are distinct in spelling and pronunciation.
