Probabilitats, or probability, is a branch of mathematics concerned with the analysis of random phenomena. It quant a measure of the likelihood that an event will occur. Probability values range from 0 to 1, where 0 signifies impossibility and 1 signifies certainty.

The fundamental concept in probability is the event, which is a subset of the sample space, the set of all possible outcomes of a random experiment. For instance, when flipping a fair coin, the sample space consists of {Heads, Tails}. The event "getting heads" is a subset of this sample space.

Probability can be calculated in several ways. Classical probability assumes all outcomes are equally likely. For example, the probability of rolling a 4 on a fair six-sided die is 1/6. Empirical probability, also known as frequentist probability, is based on observed frequencies from experiments. If a coin is tossed 100 times and lands heads 53 times, the empirical probability of heads is 53/100. Subjective probability is based on personal belief or judgment.

Key concepts in probability include conditional probability, which is the probability of an event occurring given that another event has already occurred. Independence of events means that the occurrence of one event does not affect the probability of another. The law of large numbers states that as the number of trials increases, the average of the results obtained from many trials should be close to the expected value.

Probability theory is essential in fields such as statistics, physics, finance, and artificial intelligence, providing a framework for understanding and quantifying uncertainty.
